Kanto

Tendon Tenya is a tempura chain with various locations in Japan that specialized in tendon (tempura over rice in a bowl). Their menu has a variety of freshly-made tempura, including shrimp, asparagus, squid, chicken, and mushrooms, with bowls costing as little as 600 yen (≈$5 USD). Guests can purchase their meal tickets at a kiosk provided by the restaurant and present them to the store employees. Set meals include soup, and beverages such as beer and tea, and additional pieces of tempura or other sides can be purchased for an additional price.

Capcom Café is a theme café located in Saitama. They offer menu items based on Capcom characters and video games, such as Monster Hunter. The café also has a souvenir and goods shop with items including T-shirts, posters, and keychains. Guest may even receive a free poster just for dining. A reservation is required to eat here, so be sure to book on their website in advance.

Flipper's is another chain restaurant that specializes in fluffy, thick pancakes. They currently only have six locations in Japan, with four of them being in Tokyo. The other two are in Osaka and Aichi. Each pancake meal comes with three pancakes and the topping of your choice, such as pistachios, chocolate and bananas, fruit, or simply whipped cream. Additional toppings such as ice cream can be added as well. Flipper's has also recently begun to offer brunch items such as eggs Benedict, salad, and chicken over rice. Beverages including juice, soda, and wine are also available for purchase, and can be added to your meal to create a set. This is quite a popular chain, so be sure to plan accordingly to avoid having to wait in line longer than expected.

Cuisine Française MUTEKIRO in Yokohoma offers a unique Yokohama French cuisine. The restaurant has three floors, each with a different design. The 1st floor is the main dining area, which has a casual atmosphere and has sommeliers available. The 2nd floor has private tatami rooms, and the 3rd floor (referred to as the "silk room") is used for parties, receptions, and other events. The price to dine on both the 1st and 2nd floors start at 6,900 yen for lunch and 11,000 yen for dinner (≈$53 and $84 USD, respectively), excluding service fees. Both the lunch and dinner menus offer 5-6 course menus that include appetizers, a main course, dessert, and coffee. Neighboring the restaurant is their café: Café Next Door, which offers a selection of coffees, teas, meals, and desserts.



Kansai

Katsukura is a katsu (fried cutlet) restaurant chain with locations throughout southern and eastern Japan. Their menu consists of cream and crab croquettes, pork cutlets and specialty katsu such as asparagus wrapped in pork. They also have ice cream and tiramisu, in addition to bento boxes. Some the bento box options include cutlet sandwiches and grilled pork over rice.

MACCHA HOUSE is a matcha specialty café that offers a variety of desserts and drinks. They currently have locations in both the Kanto and Kansai regions. Guests can enjoy a delicious hot cup of matcha tea, lattes, and floats, and if dessert is preferred, MACCHA HOUSE also has matcha-flavored soft-serve ice cream cones, tiramisu, and a parfait. This café is perfect for those who love or are interested in the bold, bittersweet taste of matcha and other traditional Japanese flavors.

Tokumasa Udon Morinomiya is a popular restaurant located in Osaka near Osaka Castle. The menu consists of various kinds of curry udon and curry rice. Diners can add toppings to their dish as they like, with options including cheese, onions, and shrimp tempura. They also offer non-curry items, such as onigiri (rice balls) and oroshi udon (udon with grated daikon). Their sister restaurant, Friendship, is located on the same block, right around the corner. This restaurant specializes in Western-style meals and serves katsu, curry, and omurice (an omlette with demi-glace sauce and rice).

Shikamaru, a skewer restaurant in Nara, is located a short walk away from Nara Park. The menu consists of a variety of foods, including salad, ramen, and seafood, vegetable, and meat skewers. It is a great places for people to spend time with friends, as it offers a very casual atmosphere. If you still have room for dessert after your meal, there is a mochi shop within walking distance called Nakatanidou that specializes in yomogi mochi (rice cakes made with mugwort and red bean paste). The shop has been operating for over 25 years, and tourists are often given the opportunity to watch the mochi-pounding process right outside the store. Visitors to the shop can purchase one of the freshly-made mochi for just 130 yen (about $1 USD), or, if crunchy snacks are preferred, the shop also sells both savory and sweet rice crackers.



Everywhere

Japan is also home to many international chain restaurants, such as McDonald's, KFC, Domino's, and Wendy's. Each restaurant has its own variation of the typical American menu in addition to the usual items. Here are few examples:
